"This is a rather interesting photograph for a couple of reasons. First, it's a photograph of a now elicit subject, a field of marijuana being grown in the Ural mountains in 1910 for hemp fiber. But even more interesting is that it represents some of the first color photography ever done, a result of the invention of panchromatic film in 1906. The photographer was Sergei Mikhailovich, 1863-1944, and the un-translated title is "Konoplianoe pole".
